Opinions...
Which disk/storage interface will prevail…? All of them of course. Each interface
fulfills a specific requirement of the total storage network solution. Fibre Channel
provides excellent connectivity and distance beyond any other option and is the
highest end enterprise class disk today. SAS provides the least expensive and most
flexible connectivity within the server and enclosure, not to mention it can out
perform FC is properly utilized. SAS disks are also designed for high-density
high-performance disk applications (2.5 inch form factors)
that meet tier 1 storage demands. SATA of course is the
capacity leader of all disks (mainly due to it 7200rpm
rotational speeds) and it comes in two flavors now,
chocolate or nearline and vanilla for desktop and mobile
